About The JfLGaming Network
Just for Laughs gaming was founded as a Counter-Strike: Source clan back in September 2003. Consisting of approximately six members and led by nEo-1664, Just for Laughs entered themselves in the Enemydown.co.uk UK ladder, where they performed consistently for two years. From the successes were invited to play in various other invitation-only competitions, where they recruited a lot of the current membership base.
In 2005, the focus of Just for Laughs changed from being predominantly based around Counter-Strike to becoming a much larger community, with clans or guilds in lots of the major games at the time. Just for Laughs adopted a new approach to the leadership consisting of Delphi, Milhouse, and nEo-1664 as an equal share committee as the commitments increased, along with a name change to JfLGaming Network.
As more and more people joined, JfLGaming Network took a step away from competitive FPS gaming and became a multi-platform, multi-game community. The members of the JfLGaming Network community have travelled across the continent of Tyria in Guild Wars, explored the vast universe of EVE Online, aided the Rebels in Star Wars Galaxies and are currently following the progress of The Fellowship through Middle Earth in Lord of the Rings Online.
During the time spent playing various online games, the JfLGaming Network player base grew in size, having members across the length and breadth of the UK and abroad. In an attempt to bring the community together, the leadership of JfLGaming Network decided to hold the first “one-off” LAN party in Manchester in the summer of 2004. Following on from the success of this, the LAN parties became an integral part of JfLGaming. JfLGaming Network then moved to a larger venue in Essex, and has held three successive LAN parties with a year-on-year increase in attendance.
Building on from these continual successes, the leadership team has built a better understanding of the logistics involved with organising and running larger LAN parties. From this increased knowledge, JfLGaming Network is holding the fifth LAN party in a new venue in Edwinstowe, Mansfield, with an expected attendance of thirty people. We hope to continue this success in the future, and continue to increase our LAN party capacity.
The JfLGaming Network community welcomes you to our next LAN party, and we hope to see you there.
